Alice

Salam.

Everytime I play any SMT game, it is an absolute must to get the following:- Alice, Cu Chulainn, Tam Lin and Okuninushi. Why? No reason. I just like them. The Raidou series are the best since you get to have Alice skipping behind you when you explore.

I don’t really care much about Jack Frost and I don’t see the appeal.

Seeing a white canvas every time I start a new file always appears daunting to me. So usually, I immediately fill it in with a random colour which is not white.

Salam.

Just recently, I started helping out a bit in the wards. Forced to, really, but that’s okay. I’m basically like a tagging resident, but unregistered and apparently, I am at the lowest tier in the hierarchy. But the point is I have already graduated.

So I get to have the title in my name and when people call me, they call me by my title.

However, that all changed when a nurse came up to me and asked me to stamp a medical certificate and I told her that I don’t have a stamp. Yet.

The nurse’s sudden change in demeanor towards me was nothing short of amazing. She was so nice, previously, and suddenly she treated me like an underdog all the while stressing the word ‘STUDENT’ when calling me.

But I have graduated, so whatever.

The other nurses were still nice to me regardless; that particular nurse was the only one with a problem with me.

Lantak kau lah.

I am very very bad at this. But what I’ve noticed is that it’s much easier to have a dark background and slowly add light rather than have a light background and add the shadows later.

Or maybe it just differs from person to person, I dunno. Need more practice.

environ1

For this one, I made a light background and added the shadows. The colours are still pastel-like.

environ3

For this one, I made a dark background and added the light source. The image is too generic, I know. But I gotta start slow otherwise I’d get depression for being too ambitious.

Salam.

Posting from my phone because I’m not getting any internet on my computer. Hmm, yes, holidays. But its just for this week and I’m just sitting at home being useless while half of my stuff is still left at my residental college. Anyway, hairstyle practice – apparently, I’m not good at drawing curly hair.

image

The hairstyles were referenced from images on the net. The one with the rose looks too much like Falla for me to not draw her. Come to think of it, every time I draw her, she becomes older and older. She was really just thought out on a whim; the lily was just placed in her hair because thats one of the few flowers that I can draw at that time. She was supposed to have roses.

Anyway, I just starting watching ‘Gekkan Shoujou Nozaki-kun’ after someone recommended it to me. I’ve just watched eight or so episodes (I like to take my time), but so far, it’s been really entertaining. I was honestly not expecting anything exciting from yet another slice of life anime, more so with the word ‘shoujou’ slapped in the title. Is it actually slice of life? Okay, I’m not so sure about the genre. Nevertheless, shoujou manga always bored me – the heroine is almost always of a particular stereotype and the plot has been recycled to the point of ad nauseum. Oh, but this anime is different: its about a high schooler who draws shoujou manga and he’s a guy with a personality which doesn’t reflect his work. Anyone who has ever had any experience in drawing illustrations or manga may be able to relate with this series as it tells of things like difficulty naming characters, playing dating sims and purposely picking the wrong answers for kicks, ‘professional artists’ not being able to draw certain things, hurrrdurr perspective, applying manga/video games into real life and vice versa, sameface in illustrations and such.

image

I find the heroine to be quite tolerable and I actually like her. Too many times have I dropped watching certain anime series because the heroine is too insufferable.

Also, for some odd reason, I like hearing Miko-rin shouting, which he does quite a lot. His VA must be really into it.

How do you cope with acute stress disorder

Salam.

I had a bit of a problem with SAI two weeks ago after my computer automatically upgraded itself. Though, a bit of internet searching did the job. But I didn’t bother with it because I was in my study week. So the previous two weeks was two weeks of crazy intensive study and the occasional siesta time. Hence this week and next week is exam week.

But dammit if I ain’t got no mood to randomly pick up some topic and read it for the 20th time. And yet, yesterday was a nightmare. So much for ‘I’ve read my notes 20 times already’. Yesterday was my clinical exam and I felt that I could’ve done better. At that moment, when I started presenting, did I understand how it felt to have the world feel unreal – the feeling of derealization. Time suddenly felt like it moved extremely fast and by the time everything ended, I kinda snapped out of it and thought – what did I just say? What did I just do? Is that it?

My examiners (there were four. FOUR) just looked at me with tight faces, like, “This kid has totally lost it.”

Scrubs

Even though friends kept telling me that ‘whats done is done’ I still can’t shake it out of my mind. Even though some of them were even worse than me, they were the ones consoling me. I guess I kinda over reacted to everything and acted like a drama queen when it was all over. Last night my mind was just all over the place – full of intrusive thoughts, thinking that I should’ve said this and that, and that I should’ve done this and that. The feeling that I’m actually failing and am a lost cause is there, always there. I couldn’t sleep and I didn’t want to look at my notes so I just played games until I was too tired to think.

I have absolutely no idea how my seniors handled something like this.

Tomorrow I still have exams. And the week after.

How do you cope with acute stress disorder.

I just want this to be all over.

fdkj3

Anyway, here, have an unfinished drawing. I still haven’t had lunch and am too hungry to continue and I’m gonna go have a pizza.

[NEWS] The Maze Runner

Salam.

mr0

I just finished reading The Maze Runner. I also had the urge to draw. Scribble, more like.

I heard that there was a movie about it so before I plan on watching it, might as well go through the novel. Why the sudden urge to read a novel? Because I was bored reading plain textbooks Because I recently watched Divergent and didn’t understand the plot and decided to read the novel and surprise, surprise – I discovered that the novel was different from the movie (or the movie being different from the novel). And after finished reading Divergent, a friend of mine recommended me to read The Maze Runner.

Well to be fair, a novel can take hundreds of pages to describe or explain something, develop character and backstory, insert jokes and humor whereas the movie had a limited amount of screentime to only put the key plots and characters in it.

Anyway.

I would say The Maze Runner was kinda good. The first few fifteen-something chapters kinda lost me, as even the main character doesn’t know whats going on and no one wanted to tell him anything. And there’s a lot of neologism, too. Things started to really pick up when he gets to enter the Maze. The novel ends with a cliffhanger and a lot was left unexplained. Probably left for the next book.

Newt and Minho were pretty much bros, I like ’em. Gotta love Newt’s accent and Minho’s sarcasm. I’ve seen the trailer. Newt and Minho looked exactly as I pictured them, or maybe even better.

I’m excited to move onto the new book, but have I exams for the entire next week.

Oh, and about Divergent? Divergent was okay too but I kinda felt that there were too many kissing scenes. To the point that I skip entire paragraphs because there were too recurrent. Tau la nak tunjuk korang ni caring sangat-sangat tapi takyah la lebih-lebih, kot ye pun.

[NEWS] Do you keep a diary?

Salam.

I’m so bored studying in the library.

image

Oh, gee. I’ve met a lot of people like no. 71 – didnt know there was a term for it. Also, ‘Sir! You must fight the devil!’. Hahaha.

A few days ago, I tagged along a psychotherapy session and one of the few things which they recommended the patients to do is keep a mood diary. So for the next session, they can talk about it and try to modify the resultant cognition and behaviour.

Now let me get this straight. I’m not the one being in therapy – it was another person. I just sat in there together with them. It’s all part of the teaching-learning method yada yada.

After the session, I asked the psychologist whether it’s actually good to keep a diary. She said that sometimes its good; you can reflect back on your past experiences and how you cope with it. It can also be therapeutic, like, you can vent out your feelings on paper rather than towards another human being. Depends on how you look at it.

Well, writing a blog is something like a diary, albeit a public one. Now don’t laugh; I actually kept a diary during boarding school. I don’t remember why I started writing it, but, goodness gracious, when I reread it a few years later I discovered how immature I was during high school.

I feel like burning the damned book but have never been able to do the deed. Yet.

[ART] Leftover stuff

Salam.

It that time of the month again! I’m too bored to be sitting and writing my report (I even skipped rounds this morning) so I thought that procrastinating by making a blog update with images of unfinished drawings is an adaptive coping method which will help me survive in the long run by -hopefully- not getting mauled by my supervisor by the start of next week. Truly, when we learn psychology, we can understand the human mind and the way of thinking even better, albeit, slightly.

.rabbit3

I have this thing going on: this increase in goal-direct activity which makes me start new projects i.e. drawings and leaving them unfinished while starting another drawing. Same goes for video games: play one game and start another one before completing the first one. But since this doesn’t impair my social, academic or occupational functioning, I’m not manic. So I don’t have bipolar.

Who would’ve known that surgeons (or anyone using ratcheted forceps for that matter) actually hold forceps with the thumb and ring finger. Hence, obviously, the above picture is wrong D:. And you use your index and middle finger to guide the forceps. And that the forceps were creating only for right handed people and that left hand people will either have to learn how to use their right hand or find a way to use a right-handed forceps with their left hand.

ravness

Been playing a lot of Tactics Ogre for the PSP lately. Dame Raveness is my favourite character aside from Canopus. Good thing they like each other *cough*. She was so coddled and overpowered with the best equipment that I have at hand that -spoiler- I had to have four units surround her doppelganger and beat her to death while having someone blast her with magic in order to put her down -end spoiler-. I started a file while I was in America (yeah, THAT long ago. I even played the game while meetings because even though my attendance is required, I realized that I was redundant) but never got around to completing the story because I got depressed at having to tame dragons for Deneb. But once I actually did get enough dragons for Deneb, it was even more depressing to find Glass Pumpkins for her! Apparently recruiting dragons is really really easy as compared to finding glass pumpkins. And I stopped playing for almost a year because of some stupid pumpkins.

I’ve just recently picked up the game again and apparently, yesterday, I realized that recruiting Cressida on Chaos route was an even MORE pain in the neck. But with careful planning and awful choice options, it is possible to get her without having to perform a genocide. This is true because I was able to do it without doing a death march.

And I haven’t even gone through the Palace of the Dead yet.

Well, at least this game can keep me company for a long time.
